Larry Gertz


Larry has played a major role in managing and producing numerous museum exhibits, shows, theme park attractions, location based entertainment, films and television shows.

Larry began his career as an educator, later moving into educational media and ultimately becoming a producer/director for film and television. He was president of Pacificon Productions for seven years before joining Lorimar Productions as producer for a television mini-series. He later developed two scripts for Lorimar pilot television programs. He then took a producer/director position with Walt Disney Imagineering where, over the course of the next twenty years, he produced theme park, museums, and film projects.

Highlights of Larry's Imagineering projects include Disneyland's Captain EO, and Dreamflight at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, Spaceship Earth, Mission: Space and Disney's Millennium Celebration at EPCOT Center. Gertz also served as executive producer and creative director for Disney's first interactive theme park; DisneyQuest. He completed his Disney career as Creative Vice President and Executive Producer for EPCOT and managed creative development for all Walt Disney Imagineering worldwide park and resort corporate participant partnerships.

With EffectDesign Larry recently completed project managing and producing The Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame in Seattle, WA. Larry guided a team of designers, media producers and production personnel to realize this groundbreaking interactive museum which spotlights the diverse field of science fiction and its relationship to modern society, science, technology and politics.

Larry also wrote the winning proposal for, and assisted in developing the Baltimore Children's Museum as well as the Gene Autry Western Heritage Museum in Los Angeles.

Larry has won multiple Themed Entertainment Association (TEA), CLEO and AFI awards for his theme park, museum and film work. He earned his master's degree in communication arts while teaching communication theory and film.
