Schweitzer 'Goes Big' with 6-Pack Lift
SANDPOINT - In keeping with Schweitzer Mountain
Resort's "Go Big" philosophy, the resort has
scuttled plans to install a new quad chairlift in
the Outback Bowl and will instead add a 6-person
lift.
"The end result is even shorter lift lines and a
lot more snow time for all our guests," General
Manager Tom Fortune said Thursday in a release
announcing the new plans.
Once in place, it will be the first "6-pack"
chairlift in Idaho, according to Schweitzer.
"This is a big step in the development process of
Schweitzer. This is the first resort in the
region to install a 6-pack," Fortune said.
Manufactured in Switzerland, the CTEC Garaventa
high-speed lifts are the best on the market
today, Schweitzer said, citing industry experts.
The detachable chairs will be equipped with
footrests, padded seats and safety bars.
Specially designed access gates will make for
easy and orderly loading.
Schweitzer inked a deal with Geoff
Puckett, renowned designer of theme park rides
at Disneyland and New York City's Times Square
2000 celebration. Though Schweitzer is still
working through the details with Puckett,
Campbell said the goal is to make riding the lift
a one-of-a-kind experience.
"With Geoff Puckett guiding the design and theme
for the new lift, Schweitzer will create a ride
experience that no one in the ski industry has
ever done before," said Campbell.
