DisneyQuest, a combination of theme park and futuristic arcade made its debut in the late 1990's. As expansion plans moved ahead a site was targeted in San Francisco to open a third facility. EffectDesign provided a workable marquee design which featured animated elements and laser-pumped fiber optic sparkles - visible even in direct sunlight.
The goal of the design was to imaginatively capture the attention of passersby while fitting in to the surrounding business neighborhood. An existing building offered an ideal arched entrance opening where the 'horn' of the marquee was situated. A slowly rotating corkscrew shape beckoned eyes to the grand entry.
While the third facility was never realized, the deign proved feasible - with a production budget proposed at $185,000.
